Chittaviveka Buddhist Monastery (Theravada tradition) is located in the heart of Sri Lanka. It is a new and developing monastery, founded in 2018. The abbot of the monastery is Bhante Gnanaseeha Rakwane Thera.
Слово «Читтавивека» можно перевести как «отдых ума», проповедь достопочтенного Нянасихи Ракване тхеро, посвященная этому термину «вивека» доступна на сайте.

Over the past three years, several monk residences (kuti), three meditation paths, an open meditation hall, a storage facility, and an access road to the monastery have been built on the monastery grounds. Construction is still ongoing, funded by donations.
Currently, 12 monks are residing in the monastery under the guidance of the abbot. Nine of them are Russian-speaking monks.
The monastery conducts a 10-day meditation retreat annually, as well as 3-, 7-, and 10-day retreats throughout the year.
The monastery hosts monks who speak Russian, English, and Sinhala.
Our Goals:
- Providing opportunities for Dhamma education, practice, and residence for monks, as well as for those who wish to become full-time Buddhist monks.
- Spreading the Buddha's teachings in different countries.
- Offering Buddhists the chance to visit, stay at the monastery, learn, and practice in different languages.
- Hosting one meditation retreat each month (currently, retreats are held approximately once every one-three months).
To provide accommodation for lay followers of the Buddha's teachings, we are planning to build a residential building for 20 people. This will allow those who wish to visit the monastery, stay, study, and practice the Dhamma, both during meditation retreats and private visits. Additionally, a dining hall and kitchen are currently under construction.
We have already welcomed guests interested in the Buddha's teachings from Armenia, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, the USA, and Switzerland.
